What’s interesting is that Mark’s point about Joel being obsessed rather than “in love” is not only right, but it proves the gamespot writer completely missed the point of the story. And I think it was completely intentional by ND. Joel is clearly shown to be broken.

And honestly Matt, I didn’t get a sense of cognitive dissonance with TLOU. The killing and brutality are an integral part of the story. I think you’ve really misconstrued what the game is about based on what other people have said.

Christine Love is the developer behind Analogue and Hate Plus. And having played through both of those games and getting all the achievements (except for the one unobtainable one, obviously)…yeah, besides having that achievement list be forever incomplete (since there’s no platinum trophy equivalent here I can shrug and move on, but I can see how that would grate on others, especially given she has the achievement herself), the story (and that achievement) does initially lead you to think there’s actually a way to get another outcome. So it was kind of a gut punch to find out otherwise, and I can see why people made that fan ending (though I haven’t played through that one). There’s a long article about it here: http://kotaku.com/the-steam-achievement-that-nobody-unlocked-1610073943

(side note: harem ending for life I don’t care that it’s not technically canon :P)

Also: even that Unachievable achievement in Stanley Parable is achievable after a fashion. :P
