I reviewed The Banner Saga last year, and I enjoyed it enough to put it on my list of top 10 games of 2014. You play as two different caravans trying to survive in a stark world where the sun has stopped and the gods are dead, fending off the Dredge all the while. I really liked the blend of SRPG battles and resource management reminiscent of The Oregon Trail. The hand drawn animations and orchestral soundtrack by Austin Wintory are a visual and aural treat and add a lot to the experience. You can try out the free-to-play multiplayer component Banner Saga: Factions to get a feel for the battle system and watch the launch trailer below to see if it might be up your alley. If it is, you can also look forward to the sequel, which is slated to come out this winter!
