Now THIS is a surprise. During the Nintendo World Championships, Nintendo announced that they would be releasing the original Mother on the Wii U Virtual Console as Earthbound Beginnings. The game appears to be the unreleased localization that Nintendo originally intended to release in North America in 1990 and as a result, the translation is a bit rough. Still, it’s a great history lesson for Earthbound fans and enough sales could eventually translate into a Mother 3 release.
Earthbound Beginnings is available now on the Nintendo Wii U Virtual Console for $6.99.
