The Angry Gamer – Deal with the Devil

As you’ve undoubtedly heard by now, legendary film director Steven Spielberg is teaming up with Electronic Arts (EA) in order to create three new next-generation games.

Unless you’ve been living on the f*cking moon for the past year or two, then you know just how purely evil EA is. Aside from the fact that they publish some of the worst games on the planet, their track record for fair and equal treatment of their employees ranks up there with the slavedrivers who killed Conan the Barbarian’s family. Not only that, they have a nasty tendency to buy up smaller developers, only to liquidate their staff and churn out horrendous sequels to the original franchises.

So why in the vermilion hells would someone as respectable as Spielberg join forces with them? It all boils down to the almighty dollar, my friends. Do you think Spielberg actually cares what kind of bullshit EA pulls with their employees or consumers? Of course not. He gets paid either way, and with his name attached to projects, those projects will get gigantic sums of money for research and development. Spielberg gets his cut, and even if the games flounder, he’s still got his cash and his integrity from his decades of film work. It’s a win-win situation for him.

As far as EA themselves are concerned…it’s all part of a greater scheme to take over absolutely everything. Perhaps this partnership is an inroad to digging their claws into Hollywood? First, buying out publishers…second, eliminating the competition by securing exclusive sports licenses…third, teaming up with Spielberg…I think the fourth and final part of their plan is obvious:
