News on Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

Today when Take-Two Interactive, which is the parent company of the well known Rockstar, released their third quarter financial results there were a few interesting bits of information about their biggest release of the year: Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. Below are the ones of the most interest:

1. GTA: San Andreas will be released for the PC. The current date they are aiming for it is in 2005, and somewhere in the range of the third quarter. In terms of actual dates that roughly translates to this time next year. This isn’t exactly a huge announcement, but it is interesting that no reports of an X-box release was within the report itself.

2. In terms of the highly anticipated Playstation 2 release of GTA: San Andreas there was some disappointing news. A minor delay was announced that pushes the release back one week to October 26th instead of the original October 19th release date. Also for you European Gamers out there this now puts the date for at October 29th for the overseas release.

So for you GTA junkies out there it’s a little bit of good and bad. Still, the game (despite any personal opinions) promises to be one of the best sellers of 2004 and should be a very expanded and fresh take on Rockstar’s flagship series.
