Game Collection Roundtable 08/29/2016: Bound (PS4), Goldeneye 007 (Nintendo 64), King of Fighters XIV (PS4)

Every week, the Diehard GameFAN team adds new games to their collections. Sometimes they are new releases, physical or digital, DLC or full games, but they are all building blocks in our greater collections.

A few weeks or months ago, I was complaining that my brother found all of our N64 games, but could not find the old N64. This was taken care of when he ended up cleaning his garage, which means I can now play all of those games that made my teenage years much better than they should have been. However, I also realized that some of our old games were missing because I guess my brother needed some money a few years ago and parted with some of the classics. Thankfully, I was able to reacquire two of those missing classics.

1) Goldeneye 007
2) Blast Corps

Both were made by Rare, and it is no secret that the company was on a major roll during the N64 years. I am also looking to get back Perfect Dark at some point if I can find a proper copy for a decent price, but if we are being honest, I made just end up going on a binge and buying whatever I can get my hands on.

Langrisser Re:Incarnation (3DS)
Ride to Hell Retribution (360)
King of Fighters XIV (PS4)
We Happy Few (XBO)

Well, nothing good came out this week that I wanted to purchase, so I decided to grab two horrible games because they were cheap on Amazon. I have nothing else to say about them; if you’ve heard of either the current Langrisser or Ride to Hell, you know, and if you haven’t, Google them and prepare to be amazed.

I’m also working on write-ups for King of Fighters XIV and We Happy Few as review copies; the former is (spoiler) very good, and the latter is… well it’ll probably be good once they patch in more content, but as it is NOW it’s… hard to know what to think. Honestly, I’m kind of wearing thin on survival mechanics at this point, but the devs have stated they’re working to fix them, so… we’ll see.

Nothing new in the land of video games, but I’ve been buying a decent number of Magic: The Gathering singles. Firstly, I bought a bunch of random green cards that I’m going to use to build the “evolutionary dredge” deck that’s been going around. I’ve been wanting a playset each of Den Protector and Deathmist Raptor for quite sometime, and they’re finally cheap enough. Although I completely messed up thinking I had plenty of copies of Gather the Pack. So even after all the other cards arrived, I ended up being a couple of cards short. After that, I discovered that Hangarback Walker is down to two bucks! A playset was immediately ordered, along with the rest of the pieces to make a Hardened Scales deck. In other words, I’ve spent far too much money on Magic cards this week. There was simply none left to spend on video games.

boundps4
I grabbed Bound for PS4 this week, it is really pretty! It’s pretty much a walking simulator with light platforming.
