Unboxing: Batman: Arkham City Collector’s Edition (Sony PS3)

Today marks the release of Batman: Arkham City, the sequel to the 2009 GOTY winning Batman: Arkham Asylum. Below are some shots of everything that comes with the Sony Playstation 3 Collector’s Edition of the game.

This is a front face shot of the package and how it looks when you recieve it. Notice the statue is the centerpiece. it’s very striking.

This is the right hand side of the box. A nice shot of Batman in greys and whites.

This is the left hand side of the box. It’s a very creepy image of the Joker.

Once you remove the plastic slipcase, you see that the package unfolds to show the city of Gotham in all its…glory? The top of the package contains the manual, artbook, and a catalog of Arkham City related merchandise. The bottom has a drawer that contains all the add-ons.

These are the items contained int he top of the case. Again, they are the manual, the artbook and a catalog.

An example of some of the artwork contains in the book. It’s quite thick, especially compared to a lot of artbooks released with collector’s editions lately.

Instead of a traditional PS3 case, the actual Batman: Arkham City game is housed in the art book. This will probably make housing or shelving your copy of the game awkward.

Sliding out the bottom drawer.

This is everything that is in the bottom drawer. We’ve got the Gotham Knight blu-ray, the Robin Challenge Pack, the Dark Knight Returns skin, the Iceberg Lounge Challenge Map, the Catwoman add-on, and a voucher for an Arkham City soundtrack download. Note that where you get your copy determines what you recieve. For example, at Gamestop/EB, you’ll get a Batman: The Animated Series Skin and a different challenge pack than Robins.

One close-up of the statue. Batman’s looking a little albino there, isn’t he?

…and that’s it. Check back later today for a write-up on the Robin Challenge Pack and look for my full review of Batman: Arkham City on Thursday. See you then.
