Mechwarrior 4 Now Available For Free

After a long legal dispute with Microsoft, Studio Mektek have finally been able to launch the classic PC game Mechwarrior 4 and all its expansions for free over their propriety delivery system MTX.

The game was intentionally supposed to release months ago in order to promote the upcoming reboot of the Mechwarrior franchise by Smith and Tinker, a toy company founded by former FASA chief Jordan Weisman.

Studio MekTek, INC., in association with Smith and Tinker, INC.,, Virtual World Entertainment, LLC, Catalyst Game Labs, and Microsoft Games, is happy to announce the release of Mechwarrior4 Free .

Getting started is easy. Just download and install MTX, MekTek’s free content delivery and updating system. Once installed, simply click the Games Available tab, select Mechwarrior4: Mercenaries and click install. The game will download and install, all within MTX, and as updates become available, MTX will help you keep your game up to date.

Unfortunately, demand for Mechwarrior 4 Free was so high it crashed the Mektek servers

The release of MechWarrior 4 Free is a testament to the re-ignited, world-wide interest in the BattleTech/MechWarrior computer games. Within 4 hours of the launch MekTek.net had received more than a 100,000 unique hits from around the globe. As the demand reached 10,000 simultaneously downloads, even the heavy-duty server couldn’t stand up to the demand and it, along with the website, have crashed. Through several reboots the server continues to crash as the demand still remains in the stratosphere.

Everyone is working as fast as possible to fix the problem. However, despite our continued dedication and confidence in this revival, even we were taken by surprise at the enthusiastic embracing of one of the most successful computer game franchises in history by the global community. Please have patience while we diligently work to resolve the issues with the web server to meet this incredible demand.
