Chris - I try to pretend the second one doesn't exist, but in its defense, all video game acting was awful back then.

I watched a play through of the 2nd game and it was more amusing for how bad the acting was than for any kind of gameplay.

Joel - I agree. Games that are too serious for their own good tend to turn me off. I like a bit of comedy or light heartedness. Even with horror, I like it to be over the top of psychological. These days a horror game is just an action game with undead instead of people. There's no fear.

Clock Tower next week, I'm assuming? There's a series that could use a reboot. You could even do what Clock Tower 3 did with Fukasaku and just get Argento to direct the cinematics. It'd be a nice full circle move.

For the record, I'm all for starting Phantasmagoria over again. I think modern games seriously lack a sense of the ridiculous and over-the-top. Every major game release is treated with absolute solemnity (have you SEEN those Halo 3 ODST commercials?) - I'm sorry, but I'm not going to take the 50th Space Marine or Urban Crime Thriller video game in a calendar year seriously. I don't care how detailed and dramatic you think your bleak little worlds are, your aesthetics are tired, your stories are trite and you need to see movies that are not Aliens (even if it is amazing) or Scarface. There are more colors in the world than "muzzle flash."
